te wharewaka wins civic trust award
Te Wharewaka has been recognised at the 2011 Wellington Civic Trust Awards, winning the award for "Enhancement or Protection of the City's Built Environment." Judges noted that:
"Te Wharewaka is an exciting and distinguished building, presenting a range of experiences within and without. Avoiding direct imitation, its design convincingly brings together both European and Maori influences to deliver a strong form bridging the two cultures. It is an impressive new addition to New Zealand's lexicon of architecture."
